My original intent was to post each of these letters separately on appropriate sites, but that became impossible, so they are all posted together here, but that is why there is the strange format. Dear friends, For ten years those of us with preexisting conditions and other health issues and those who care about us and or have benefited from The PATIENT PROTECTION And Affordable Care Act have had to endure constant attacks from the so-called right on our newly found freedom to shop around for Health Insurance, rather than either having a risk pool required by state law to always be twice the rate of comparable private coverage as our only option or have no option at all. They have spread disinformation, distortions and downright lies about this law. In one of the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary debates, an entire auditorium of them even cheered when Rand Paul answered “yes” to the question “should those with preexisting conditions just be allowed to die?” We have endured countless attempts to repeal the law, and the latest one, with a Republican President ready to sign it, only fell one vote short of succeeding. Now, with Democrats back in control of The House of Representatives, we have a temporary reprieve, but we must still not rest easy, for the other side will not. We must cease this moment, carpe diem. Therefore, I call on all who have benefitted from The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or as I like to call it “At Least Former President Barak Obama DOES Care” or who know people who have, to tell every Conservative/Republican they know that they know someone who has benefitted from the law. Tell them, also, that if they want their relationship with you to continue, they had better get on the right side of the law and start working against their party's efforts to destroy or even weaken it, from within would probably be the most effective. Give them a deadline by which you want to see some action, and make it clear that if nothing has happened by then, the relationship is over, FOREVER. It is time to fight. To stop defending the law and start attacking its opponents, which we frankly should have been doing from day one. We have almost become numb. Every time one happens, there are calls to do something about the problem, sometimes there are even marches and rallies demanding stricter gun laws. Yet every time the NRA (which in my view really stands for Nut Case Rebellious Anarchists) and other multi million dollar gun lobby groups use scare tactics about taking away everyone's guns and so on to ensure that nothing happens. And the mass shootings continue and continue to increase in frequency and in severity. Yet still, law makers (mostly Republican) continue to remain deaf to the vast majority of the public's calls for at least simple things like closing the gun show loophole and only listen to their rich gun lobby donors. And in many heavily red states, they remain secure regardless of what most of their constituents think on this particular issue because all most of the people in those states see is an “R” next to the person's name. And nothing changes. NO MORE. I call on all people who read this message who have family or friends who are Conservatives/Republicans to tell their family and or friends that they are SICK AND TIRED of their party permitting the continuation of gun violence in this country and that either Republican law makers feel enough pressure from their own base that they are forced to defy the gun lobby and act or else they will be unemployed after the next election by the next election or you will n longer consider them family or friends. I know this may seem harsh, but the only way things will change is if Republican law makers feel enough pressure from their base that they are forced to act, and the only way that will ever happen is if those of us on the right side of this debate have frank conversations with those we know on the wrong side of this debate. I know the rules of polite society say that you should not discuss politics with people with whom you disagree, but how are we EVER going to heal the partisan divide in this county if even people who at the end of the day will still be family and or friends do not ever discuss issues about which they disagree. So, let's have some frank ad pointed discussions with our gun nut family and friends and either end gun control grid lock or end these relationships. Republicans say that we should honor police officers, but how is letting all manner of firearms run rampant across the county so that they could be outgunned in any situation they might go into honoring the brave people who put on the uniform every day. Dear friends, For decades, we have endured attacks from the so-called Right. They have called us fags, queers, child-molesters, some even spawn of the Devil. They misinterpret and misquote Scripture to back up the claim that being Gay, Bi, or Trans is against the Will of God and find all kinds of ridiculous ways to assert that it is also against Nature. And when we start to say something to people we know who think that way, others around us tell us to not make trouble in the family, and then accuse us of passing the buck or scapegoating when we complain about this, or only being concerned with ourselves. Maybe if they had had to endure these kinds of attacks their entire sexually mature lives, they would understand that asking for equal rights is not about being selfish or scapegoating or passing the buck for our problems, it is about “Liberty and Justice for all” and a collective desire to be treated as equal Human Beings, not a personal, selfish desire for some kind of “special” Rights. In any case, the time for fear of the homophobes and their apologists is passed. It is time to stand up and be counted. To say “we will NOT go quietly into the night” or back into the closet. The closet doors have been shattered. Therefore, I call on all readers of this letter who either are Gay, Bi and or Trans or are friendly to those of us who are one or more of the above to tell all of their Conservative/Republican so-called family or so-called friends the truth about themselves and set a time limit in which those people can either renounce and start helping us fight homophobia and transphobia or stop pretending to be our family and or friends. This may seem overly harsh to some, but I say the time has come for strong action, and that since their aim is our destruction, this is a Just War, and one that must be waged. So let us take the actions that MUS be taken while there is still time for them to do some good.
